The Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park is proud to partner with the American Red Cross to offer the following safety training courses.

We are also planning on offering additional safety programs in the future.  Please check back as we expand our offerings to support the community. Click on the program below for more information

To register for Swim Lessons, Summer Camps, Safety Training Courses, and Parent’s Night Off log in to our user portal and go to “Register for Classes”

If you normally pay online or have registered for classes in the past, try using your old login information. You may need to reset your password. 

You can confirm if you have an account and reset your password by following the steps below…

  1.  Click the button to be led to our new welcome screen.
  2. Select “Access My Account” located at the top right of the screen.
  3. Fill out the requested information and hit submit
  4. If you see a red notification reading “You’ve already registered” select “login” at the top right of the screen
  5. Select “Forgot Password” and follow the steps to reset your password.

Lifeguard Training

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguard course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of this course.
  • Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl (freestyle), breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:
  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.
    • Surface dive, feet first or head first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
    • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so you are able to get a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance under water.
    • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer with Basic First Aid

This American Red Cross training program is meant professional-level rescuers to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over. This program is offered in traditional classroom or blended learning (online learning with instructor-led skill session) formats.

Certification Requirements:

  • Classroom (traditional classroom, instructor-led)
  • Attend the entire course.
  • Participate in all skill sessions and scenarios.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios.
  • Pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80 percent (20  Correct answers out of 25 questions).
  • Blended Learning (online learning and instructor-led skills session).
  • Complete all lessons of the online learning session and pass the online Assessment with a score of at least 80%.
  • Participate in all course activities.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills.

Lifeguard Instructor Course

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Basic Lifeguarding Instructor Course is to train instructors to teach the basic-level American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses. This program is offered in a blended learning (online learning with instructor-led skill session) format.

Students must have access to internet to complete online portion of training. Students will receive a link to access content at least 1 week in advance of the course, or at the time of registration. Participants must come to class with proof of completing online content.

Certification Requirements:

  • Classroom (traditional classroom or blended)
  • Attend the entire course.
  • Participate in all skill sessions and scenarios.
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios.
  • Blended Learning (online learning and instructor-led skills session).
  • Participate in all course activities.

Water Safety Instructor Course

The Water Safety Instructor certification course trains WSI candidates to teach courses and presentations in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants progress.

Certification Requirements:

  • Students must be 16 years of age to participate AND
    Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills (on the first day of class):

    • Swim the following strokes consistent with Level 4:
      Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke, Sidestroke – 25 yards
      Butterfly – 15 yards
      Back float for 1 minute (floating or sculling)
      Tread water for 1 minute
