Learn to Skate at Hope Gas Ice Pavilion
Give your child the confidence to glide, move, and have fun on the ice with our Learn to Skate program at Hope Gas Ice Pavilion. Designed for children ages 5 and up, this program is perfect for beginners and those looking to build foundational skating skills in a supportive, high-energy environment. Whether your child dreams of playing hockey, figure skating, or simply enjoying time on the ice, our program is the first step toward a lifelong love of skating.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
- Ages: 4+
- Day of the Week: Sundays
- Class Time(s)-choose one:
- Session 1: 12:45p-1:10p
- Session 2: 1:15p-1:40p
- Instructors are certified by Learn to Skate USA and/or USA Hockey.
- Skates included with learn to skate classes
- Students receive one free Public Skating sessions each week during their lesson session to practice what they have learned (rental skates included).
The foundation of Learn to Skate USA powered by Toyota is based in fun, safe and solid skill progression that provides all skaters the necessary tools to reach any goal they may set.
All participants enrolling in our LTS program must become a member of the U.S. Figure Skating “Learn To Skate USA” program. Membership cost is $20.00 per season (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026). Skaters can register themselves directly at: www.learntoskateusa.com
What to expect on your first day of lessons?
Come in 15-20 min. before your lesson starts, check-in at the Guest Services. Pick up your rental skates (included free with your registration) at the counter. Our rental skates’ sizes match regular shoe sizes (no half sizes). Make sure you tighten laces firm around the ankle, skates should feel snug. Your instructor will meet you in the lobby area in front of the ice.
What should my child wear?
We recommend warm clothes, a jacket and sweatpants or warm-up pants that the skater can easily move in, gloves, light weight socks or tights that cover the ankles and a helmet are all encouraged for beginner skaters.
